Epidemic Fears Disrupt DRC World Cup Preparations, Camp Moved Abroad
The camps being arranged for the DRC national team in preparation for their upcoming world cup games have been cancelled following the emergence of the Ebola virus infection in the eastern parts of the DRC. The very contagious viral infection, whose cause is Bundibugyo virus, and for which there is yet no vaccine available, has led to more than 150 deaths, and the virus has even found its way into South Kivu province. Since there is a 21-day travel ban on those travelling from the DRC issued by the American government, which is one of the countries hosting the event, the camp has been moved to Belgium.
